    forgave/pardoned me

I had to apologize by writing a letter to her and she _______ me.

The given answer is 'forgave'. Can 'pardoned' also be used?

    Thank you in advance.

    Re: forgave/pardoned me

'Forgave' is far more natural, in my opinion.

I wouldn't use pardoned. Pardoned sounds like perhaps something that would be said in olden times, a very formal situation (perhaps involving lawyers), or maybe in a dialect which I am not familiar with.
