What is sugar rush? I could not find it in dictionaries.
A "sugar rush" is a sudden burst of energy one feels after ingesting a large amount of sugar. Not necessarily a heaping spoonful of raw sugar, but rather some snack that is laden with sugar. Children are particularly susceptible to the effects of sugar, which is why certain candies like Pixy Stix would seemingly make them hyperactive after ingestion. However, they usually don't consciously know that the sugary candy is what making them so energetic. They just like the sweet taset of it. Adults, on the other hand, are well aware of the power of sugar, and it is quite common for an adult to eat a candy bar or some other sweet during the day when they're feeling sleepy and need that "sugar rush" to get some work done.
