    Unhappy Structure of ORs

    The sentence below is definition of "ethic" in a dictionary.

    the body of moral principles or values governing or distinctive of a particular culture or group

    The structure of many ORs is difficult, but I guess as below.
    ===============================
    the body of [Object]
    [Object]=
    (moral principles) or (values (governing or distinctive) of (a particular (culture or group)))
    ===============================
    Is this guess right ?
    Any general rule for the case (many ORs) like this ?

    I am not a teacher.

    You just take them as they come. In this case, each "or" is exhausted the second it is used. I would parse your example differently:

    the body of [(moral principles) or (values)] [(governing) or (distinctive of)] a particular [(culture) or (group)]

    Coolfootluke:
    Thank you for the answer. This was very good typical sample.

    Fivejedjon:
    Sorry for vague expression. I meant plural "or" , to emphasize I used upper case.

    Thank you again
