    names

    A) I know that Susan can be called as Sue and David can be called as Dave.

Shall I make sentences as follow:

    1. Sue is the little name of Susan.
    2. Sue is the nickname of Susan.
    __________________________________________________ _____________

    B) Her real name is Jen but she's been called as Cute Cute at home including her parents, siblings and close relatives.

Shall I make sentences as follow:

    1. Cute Cute is the little name of Jen.
    2. Cute Cute is the nickname of Jen.
    3. Cute Cute is the baby name of Jen.
    __________________________________________________ ____________

    Thank you.

    Re: names

    I am not a teacher.

    A) Sue is technically a nickname for "Susan", but a nickname is usually more like something other than your name, like "Slim" or "Shorty". I would say that "Sue" is short for "Susan". "Little name" does not work.

    B) "Cute Cute" is Jen's pet name. It is her family's pet name for her.

A nickname (not on computer) is generally a name that your friends give you, unrelated to your own name, or sometimes an insulting corruption of it.
Examples: George W. Bush = Dubya (from W); a fat kid might be called Porky or Fatso - though blatant discriminatory names like this are not as common lately.

Families give their young children pet names.
