Hi, there.
When I am trying to translate that phrase word by word I get something meaningless. And I had got to assumption that there is some atomic value of what it means. So, could you please give me some examples of counterparts? Where did it originally come from? Is it from Shakespeare? Is it obsolete? Is it used only in books?
Thanks a lot for your reply.

I'm not a teacher ***

I think it's a more old-fashioned way of saying 'you poor thing'.

dictionary entry - poor thing
used in expressions of affection, pity, contempt, etc.: poor thing
