    "overcome" and "cope with" are slightly different, but here are a few phrases that spring to mind:
    to pull through
    to tough it out
    to fight it out
    to stick it out
    to stick at it
    to hang in there
    to ride the bumps
    to win out
    to be up to it
    to stay the course
    to gain the upper hand
    to get the better/best of
    to get on top of things

    Here's one (EDIT: to add to JMurray's excellent list):
