    Where?

Where do you position the word "also"? For example:

    I thanked her also.

    I also thanked her.

Generally speaking they are both correct, though it is said in my dictionary that usually "also" doesn't come at the end of the sentence.

To answer your question I first think about what I want to say. Do I want to say that I did other jobs and I also thanked her? Or perhaps I want to say that I thanked Jim and John and I also thanked her. In the first situation I would say the second sentence. In the second situation I'd rather say:"I thanked her as well."

But I consider it just my taste, though it is obvious that the two situations are different.

The title you chose for this thread, "where?", is very bad! You should name it like , for example, " 'also' , its position in the sentence". If you choose a proper title for your thread then other members who might have same problem with "also" can read it and learn more about it. Not only languages have rules but also learning and teaching languages have rules.

I wouldnŽt use also in the first sentence.

IŽd say: I thanked her too / as well.
