    DO I need a comma after in addition

    For example, in an article from France 24 said that in 2011 around 40 percent of Egypt's 80-million population live on two dollars per day ; in addition, it was said in the “World Fact Book” that 20% of the population were below the poverty line.

    Yes. For the same reason you put one after 'for example'.
