I am helping someone to translate their CV into English, and have got stuck!
The person has held many posts on boards, councils and committees, and I am looking for a term to cover this. These posts are usually of the kind that one is elected to. In the dictionary, the Danish word tillidserhverv is translated to 'position of trust', 'honorary office', 'representative position' and 'fiduciary position'.
I don't think 'honorary office' is suitable, as the positions entail some duties; neither can 'fiduciary positions' be used as money is not the main focus of the positions he has held.
I sincerely hope that someone can help me with this.
A 'position of trust' is fine. (An 'honorary position' is unpaid, and this may not be the idea you want to convey.) Representative is appropriate if they've represented someone. It might be appropriate to extend the idea a bit and say something like 'various positions of trust, responsibilty, and influence'.
