The roadways have been jammed because of people's dependence on cars.
The roadways are being jammed because of people's dependece on cars.
The air is being polluted by fumes from cars and trucks.
The air has been polluted by fumes from cars and trucks.
But which one would you use in your conversation as an English man or an American?
