hi,
Could you please tell me about some books that may help me in understanding the play Othello by Shakespeare?
Thank you in advance.

The first one you should read is Othello by Shakespeare. Have you read it?

Try Lamb's Tales from Shakespeare (Charles & Mary Lamb, so I suppose it should be Lambs' Tales  ).

These are most of the plays put into simplified prose. Aimed at English young people, they are a very good introduction for anyone. I believe they were written about 200 years ago, but are still a good read today.

You can Google the title and find it on the web. (Or should that be the internet?)

It will be worth seeking out a new edition of Shakespeare's plays with the original text on the left-hand pages and a modern version on the right, which I was looking at recently in Borders.

They would have been a godsend for me in my schooldays.

Yes, they are an excellent resource.
One series is the Shakespeare Made Easy: <Play Name>, Hutchinson.
However, I fear that left-hand pages would be rarely read.

Yes, I could you give you hundreds of references on Othello. But you could also find them too by doing a web search - perhaps not as easily, but it's your assignment.
Ask again after you've read the play.
