    Question about turnitin.com

    Hi there ,
I am Samy Nashabe From Lebanon and this is my second semester in the university. I passed the ENGL101 and now I am in ENGL102 . However, in this course we have been told that we must submit our speech to turnitin.com which is a website specialised in detecting plagiarism and giving feedback to the teacher...

Is there any way to minimize the similarity percentage ? I do not know maybe quoting or aknoledging the source may be helpful , but how should I do it ... I do not know anything about the APA style because we have not taken it yet .

I would really appreciate your help.

    Regards,
    Samy Nashabeh

    Hi,

Reducing the similarity percentage? My only response to that is...don't plagiarize!

Find out exactly how your prof wants you to document your references.

Keep all drafts of your work. Always.
    Cite all references. Always.

With respect to APA, if that is what you're required to use maybe these will help:
How to Cite References Using APA Style
APA Citation Style Library "How To" Guides Help & Instruction Concordia Libraries

    As a side note....
At the university I attended students could refuse to submit their work to turnitin.com, without any penalty.
If you want to know what your options are, ask for more information from your student union (or what ever group represents student concerns at your school).

    Hope this helps:)

    Not a teacher.

It's not just helpful; it's essential to quote and reference sources- any use of sources without references is plagiarism.
