    add more jerks

What does the following in bold mean in the context?

Adult life provides us with an abundance of opportunities to dump on each other, and I for one don't want to add more jerks to the general population.

Is it just saying "I don't want to make people uncomfortable"?

    Thank you.

What's the bigger context? A jerk is someone who's rude, annoying, and offensive. The speaker doesn't want to create more of such people ... but for how you'll need the wider context.

    Re: add more jerks

The person might not want to have children to avoid adding future jerks to the population. Have you got more context?

    Re: add more jerks

    Here is more context.

So we've decided we want our children to have good character, since otherwise they might bite other kids and steal their toys when they get to daycare. Sounds good. After all, those discussions with the teachers about Johnny's tantrums can get pretty embarrassing. But our reasons include more than that. Adult life provides us with an abundance of opportunities to dump on each other, and I for one don't want to add more jerks to the general population. As we said, we want our kids to make ethically good choices. We want them to consistently do the right thing.

They want to raise their children to be good people and not jerks. There are already many jerks in the world; they don't want to create more.
