A woman says "This girl is messing up the church's money. I mean, she works hard but she needs to do better than that"

** The girl works as fashion show coordinator.

When freezeframe asked for context, she wanted more than you provided. Is there any reference to a church in the sentence(s) preceding yours? If so, please let us know. If not - no idea.

That;s why i'm confused the context is not religious at all.. it seems to me like an idiom. I haven't taken it literally.

I don't have more context either. it's a program and she just said that!
I couldn't even guess the meaning when ?I googled it.

Also, context is not just words that are around the phrase. It's also: who's saying this? to whom? about whom? where? is this from a movie? what kind of movie? is this something you read on a blog? etc.

I'm not saying you have to specify everything every time but just clarifying on what "context" could mean.

It sounds like some kind of slang -- who are the people saying this?

I'm not the target demographic of that show.

It's not a "mainstream" idiom.

Sub-groups and sub-cultures in a society have their own slag, idioms, and references. Is it crucial for you to know what this means? Possibly someone else will drop by who'll know.
