We didn’t keep in touch for ages because of being very busy’.
Please help me to explain to my student that this sentence is grammaticaly incorrect. incorrect auxiliary verb + verb tense error and subject error. Why do you think she would do this is it because she has maybe be taught this incorrectly or, that she just doesn't know it
‘I’m sure your’re very successful and dedicated teacher’
or what about this one?

I was thinking about your sentence and make this conclusion:
It's wrong because: "...because of being very busy" is not correct at all
I use "because of" to introduce a reason about a thing or a person, but never a verb (the "because" . I would say your sentence as the follow:
We didn’t keep in touch for ages because we have been very busy’
I hope this would help you to your students.
After prepositions the verb goes in the -ing form
