    Hello, teachers, Which one is corect? so....as, or as...as?

    Hello, teachers, Which one is corect? so....as, or as...as? And what is the difference between these two phrases? Thank you!

    A: I think English is so important as Math.
    B: I think so.


    A: I think English is as important as Math.
    B: I think so.

    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    I agree with you. As... as.

    This has a slightly different tone to it than "as important as" which implies equality without emphasis. "so important" tells me you want to emphasize that English is extremely important.

    So what message are you trying to convey? Ponder this change and write back.

    When you are comparing two things to show that there is no difference, then you use the as... as form.

    She is as tall as her sister.
    Lancaster is as far as Philadelphia.

    English Grammar and Writing : English language courses, English Grammar Online - It doesn't say why, but it is a reference.

    When there is negation of the comparison, so is possible:

    She is not so/as tall as her sister.
