    Jacob will pick you up at school if it ______________.

    1) rains
    2) will rain

    Jacob will pick you up at school if it rains.

    You are not allowed to use future tenses in conditional clauses. However, you might see will or would in conditional clauses (exceptions).

    I agree with your version of the sentence, but not with the comment that follows. There are no future tenses as such in English.

    Not to use 'will' with simple reference to the future in if-clauses is sound advice to begnners, though 'will' can be used in these clauses with other meanings, as can 'BE going to'. These are not 'exceptions', unless one believes that 'will' can never be used in if-clauses - except when it is!
