Good evening, here I come to ask for your help once again.

Translating a medical encyclopaedia I found this definition for one of the editors: GP principal.
Could it stand for "medico specializzato" in Italian?

No, a GP principal is not a specialist. He is the head GP in a clinic - often an older GP who started solo, and then took on some younger doctors as his practice expanded. Maybe medico generico principale?
