    They seem?

    Hi,

I wonder if I use the word - seem - correctly in the sentence below?

What is left in the end of day are those words that link us together but also seem could link nothing of us at all.

Should add they at the front of seem or it is ok like that?

    Thanks.

    Re: They seem?

I am not a teacher, but I will comment.

Seem is used correctly in your sentence, but everything after seem is incorrect. It is hard to determine what you are trying to say - how can words link us together but not link us together?

Also, the phrase should be "at the end of the day" not "in the end of the day"

I throw a doubt in this sentence that's all - words link us together but also seem cannot link us together.

    Thanks

'Seem' is followed by a to-infinitive. Can has no infinitive form, and therefore cannot follow 'seem'. You'll have to write something like:
Words link us together but also seem to be unable to link us.

    Re: They seem?

So maybe you are trying to say:

What is left at the end of day are those words that seem to link us together but might link nothing at all.

    Thanks so much for this.

Can I say it like this instead?

What is left at the end of day are those words that link us together but also seem to link nothing of us at all.

    Thanks.

Very close! Replace nothing with none and it will be correct.
