(1) I believe that "on" is the correct preposition:

The world-wide recession has not had much impact on [the economy of]

India. (I think "impact" collocates with "on.")

India. (I think "impact" collocates with "on.")
I agree, but it could also be written as below, meaning the impact on the people of India.
"(The) Recession did not have much impact in India."
