May I have some synonyms for this phrasal verb please? (Any possible term and expression.)

Cheers!

Well, after a somewhat embarrassing episode, the details of which are irrelevant, I was once carted away by the police.

Thank you a lot. Would that mean "to be so excited that you can't control you feelings"?

When explaining the incident in court, I lost control of my feelings, and said one or two things that I should have kept to myself.

Yes, for post #4. In post #2, I was literally carried away.

"To get carried away" is to overreact to a situation or to go beyond what is prudent. Like the man who proposes marriage to a woman on the first date. Or the person who decides he wants to learn how to play guitar and buys all kinds of expensive equipment before he knows whether he will be successful.

Or the couple who meet in Vegas and wake up after a long night of drinking to find themselves married.

No that's not "carried away" that's "creepy psycho" :-D

"to be overexcited/overenthusiastic" works for me
or a colloquial term "to be over-enthused"
