    can hurt a career?

"Career" is confusing, Is it your company life or a general life experience?

ex)Tone is especially important in an email since it is very easy for your audience to misinterpret your intention.Read your email aloud, and even read it to someone else, if you want to ensure that you will not offend the audience. In fact, if the content is sensitive, you might want to reconsider email as your medium......Finally, do not be misled into thinking that your audience will overlook carelessness just because they view email as informal. Although most readers are a little more forgiving with email, many are not. Carelessness of any sort can hurt a career.

    Re: can hurt a career?

Your "career" is your chosen occupation or profession and your progress through this job over a period of time. It doesn't have to be with the same company or institution, you can have a career in medicine or journalism, for example, that has you working for many different organisations through the years. And a careless email could cause problems along the way.
