This sentence doesn't make sense with 'can' or 'could' unless you're talking about a specific situation. Most people know a bit of history, and so they know how people can or could function without electricity.

    (2) If that happened, what would the world be like ?
In a conditional sentence, you need the past tense form.

    (3) It will lead to a serious consequences.
'Consequences' is usually plural in a concept like this. Also, it might be better as "It will have serious consequences", since 'consequences' are, by definition, led to. "Leading to a consequence" is strictly a tautology.
Also, avoid, "It will cause terrible consequences" for the same reason.

    (4) It will lead to a terrible result.
This is good if you have a specific result in mind, otherwise it would be better as "It will lead to terrible results", or "It will cause terrible results" or "It will have terrible results."
