on or in for street name?

Do you use in or on for street name and on or in for village(neighborhood)?
I think on should be for street name and in for village.

ex) I live in(on) Westway St(Ave) in(on) Grandville(village)

I would say "on" a street and "in" a town or neighborhood.

You would use "at" if you give house number.

I live at 140 Bay street.

but

I live on Bay street.

I think, although I'm not sure, that Brits use in with street names -- I live in Bond street. Because sometimes I see in used with street names and I've always assumed it was BrE. I hope some BrE speakers can comment on this.

It's a bit of a mixture here.
People usually live at a street number, but I often hear in. They live in the smaller streets, roads, drives, avenues etc that make up most of suburbia, but they often say they live on the main roads that run through the suburbs. If they live near the city centre they also live in the smaller streets and laneways, but live on the main streets of the downtown grid.
You are more likely to live on a wide road with lots of traffic and live in a road that's tucked away and quieter.

Apart from the words I have bracketed, it is similar for speakers of BrE. 'In' is far more common than 'on'.
