    the night shift

    Please check out the following sentences.

    (1) Our world would be shrouded by darkness at night if we lost electricity.
    (2) When night arrives, darkness will engulf everything.
    (3) We would need to use candles or kerosene lamp to illuminate our surroundings.
    (4) Our activities woud be confined by darkness, so that we could not work at the night shift.

    All look good with one minor correction: we work the night shift -- not at the night shift
