Hello!
May I ask how American(or British) people call special muffin (bakery) usually prepared on Easter?:)
I added a picture.

Babka in English does sound funny, especially when it's all you say. ;)

Yes. But there are two kinds of babkas! You can never have too many babkas! Another kind of babka is a Jewish cake:

This kind is well known in places with large Jewish presence like NYC or Montreal.

For the Easter cake, you can say kulich, but it's more Russian only. For the pan-Slavic version ;-), it's babka.

If you just say "Easter cake", that doesn't mean anything. I'd assume it's just a regular cake with pastel coloured decorations. Probably something to do with chicks and eggs. :-D

EDIT: Wikipedia: Babkahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babka_(food)

In Ukraine we called Easter cake just "Paska".
Have you heard about it?:)

Yes. But again this is something only immigrants from there would know.

That's a babka?!

I'm shocked. It is something to come to an English forum to learn a word from your own language! (And from a couple of other languages, I admit. :))
