    tree-line

    Dear all,

What is the exact meaning of the term "under the tree-line" in:

[And high up just under the tree-line at 1650m is the Hochzinner, the highest mountain farmhouse in Kaernten]

    Thanks a lot.

So we can't translate it literally? I know that there is treeline like on both side of the road but in my context, it's different. I dont get what the speaker simply wants to say!

He wants to say that the altitude is so high that it is above the altitude where trees can successfully grow.

He wants to say that the Hochzinner farmhouse is just below that altitude.
