    Question cool off / cool down

    Dear all ;

    Is there any differance between cool off / cool down ?
    If there is any would you please let me know?

    They have both the same meaning

    I think this would depend on the circumstances.
    "Cool off" can either be taking a swim or similar to drop the temperature, or to quickly calming down one's behaviour after an outburst.

    "Cool down" is usually slower, eg a cooling down period after an extended burst of energy such as required in a sport when you give your body time to cool down slowly. It can also refer to cooling down after an outburst but in my opinion means you isolate yourself until you calm down.
