    Please check out the following sentence.

    (1) I want to be a doctor in the future.
    (2) If I am a doctor, I can save many people.

    Seems okay to me.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
