Dear all,

I was taught that I need to put comma after 'therefore'

But I read many articles in news paper using 'therefore' with out comma

I am confused about it

Many thanks

Example :

We shall, therefore, return to this item at our next meeting

I no longer have the support of the committee. I have therefore decided to resign

Those sentences are better without commas. Modern newspaper articles reflect the current trend.

You were probably taught by somebody who was him-/herself taught to use them with therefore years ago.

NOT A TEACHER.

When "therefore" is the first word of a sentence, it is often followed by a comma.

In the first sentence you provided, the author is putting emphasis on "therefore" by setting it off with commas.
