no subject in this sentence

Hi all,

There is no subject after but in this sentence

Advertising can draw the attention of the audience, but ( ??? ) not neccesarily stimulate the sales

Is this a formal writing ?

Why doesn't the writer say it after but

Advertising can draw the attention of the audience, buit does not neccesarily stimulate the sales

Many thanks

You can add it if you so desire, but it's not necessary.

It's no different from:

I can sing and (I can) dance.
Fred can sing but (he can) not dance.

So:

Advertising can draw the attention of the audience but (it can) not necessarily stimulate the sales.
