    Are these sentences correct? Please help

    1) We just let our boat to drift/float along with the current and we will wherever it takes us.

    2) When you cross the river, make sure you find a firm footing in the river so that you will not sweep away by the current.

    Re: Are these sentences correct? Please help

    I think the sentences are incorrect. I would rewrite them as:

    1. We just let our boat drift/float along with the current and we will go wherever it takes us.

    2. When you cross the river, make sure you find a firm footing on the riverbed so that you will not be swept away by the current.

    {"in the river" is ok, but I think "on the riverbed" is better}

    1. We just let our boat to drift/float along with the current and we will wherever it takes us.
    If let is used in the present tense (something we do habitually), the sentence should read

    'We just let our boat drift along with the current and go wherever it takes us'.

    But let could also be the past tense, in which case you need

    'We just let our boat drift along with the current and went wherever it took us'.

    (You could use float. I prefer drift.)

    In neither case is will appropriate in the second part of the sentences.

    However, if you're thinking about the future you could also say

    'We will just let our boat drift along with the current and go wherever it takes us'.

    2. I agree with luschen.
