    can be used to/for

    Dear Forum Users,

Could anyone please affirm if this is the right way of thinking about 'use', as in:

I want to talk about the things people use the Internet for:

    1. The internet can be used for + NOUN (project work, chatting)
    2. The Internet can be used to + VERB (chat)

    Thank you.

    Re: can be used to/for

Hi, I am not an English teacher, but as a native English speaker, I think both of your usage examples are correct.

"The internet can be used for chatting."

"The internet can be used to chat."
