    preposition for "clear customs"

I wonder whether it is possible to use "of" or "for" in this case.

    - I cleared customs of the fish.
    - I cleared customs for the fish

If you have any correction, feel free to give.

    Thank you.

Both are strange. What are you trying to say?

    Re: preposition for "clear customs"

What I like to mean is to get clearance of the fish at the airport.
When I make an import of items from foreign countries, it is an obligation to clear the customs. This is the context for my question.

    Re: preposition for "clear customs"

I would say "The shipment (or package) cleared customs."

Or "The Customs officers cleared the package."

You aren't the subject of the sentence.
