    "Let's get to (the?) work"

    Hello,

    Which one is correct?

    1. Let's get to work
    2. Let's get to the work

It seems 1 is right. But I saw a character say "Let's get to the work" in a TV serial called "The Mentalist" (Season 2, Episode 17).

Could it be used as a short for 'Let's get to the work at hand" or something like that?

    Hightower: come in.

Lisbon: Ma'am, I assure you, Today's incident is not at all indicative of the unit's overall confidence.

Hightower: You had a bad day,Agent Lisbon. You screwed up. It happens. Now let's get to the work. This judge, the one who changed his mind about giving us our search warrant--
    Thank you

Yes, in the context that you describe, it means "Let's get to the work at hand".
