    It needs apostrophe

    It was a good idea of Tom's.
    It was a Tom's good idea. In first sentence, can I say without apostrophe?

    I am not a teacher nor a native speaker.

    I did see an example like you wrote in 1 but without the apostrophe, however you should wait for a teacher to answer your question.

    You could also say 'It was Tom's good idea', but either way, you need the apostrophe.

    You could repair the 2nd sentence by omitting the article.
