    to and fro

Please check out the following sentences. Which is acceptable?

    (1) He crossed his arms on his chest, pacing to and fro in the living room.
    (2) He crossed his arms on his chest, pacing back and forth in the living room.

    Re: to and fro

I think both are acceptable, but it is more common to say "He crossed his arms across his chest."
