Hello, I'm not sure if this question was already asked before, but can you please tell which variant is correct and why. I'm wondering because I've been always hesitant about using these phrases. Thank you.

As a NES, but not a teacher, I would search/post "on the internet".
I can't think of a case where I would use "in the internet" no more than I would want to write "in a blackboard".

Thank you. And does the same go for "the Web"?

I agree with R21.

My problem is 'on/in this forum'. I actually asked once on/in/? this forum which was normally used - but I've forgotten the answer. Incipient Alzheimer's!

ps - I have just found it: in/on forums and threads
