    Today was flat out

Is it OK to say, today was flat out to mean 'it was a busy day, I had to work at top speed' etc.?

    Re: Today was flat out

In BrE, we would normally say "I was flat out" as opposed to the day being flat out.

I was flat out at work today!

So you can 'be flat out' and 'work flat out' and it means the same?

    Re: Today was flat out

As an adverb- Today was flat out busy. At full speed.
It just means totally flat out like the speedometer of a car when it pins out.
Today was totally busy. Flat out hectic from 9 to 5.
