    ride out vs stick out

"Though the home team was down by 20 points, a few fans stuck it out until the very end."

    OR

"Though the home team was down by 20 points, a few fans ride it out until the very end."

Can 'ride out' be used interchangeably in this context?

"Stick out" would be something like "to continue doing something unpleasant or difficult."?

"Ride out" would be "to succeed in surviving or getting through something."?

Re: ride out vs stick out

    Exactly.

You ride out a hurricane, for example.
