    STAND .... TALL/HIGH

    "He stands six foot tall." Could "tall" be dropped?

    It could (in that the sentence would still be understandable), but it sounds better to my ear if there is a word or words after 'feet. So both these sound better to me:

    He is six feet tall.

    He stands six feet with no shoes on.

    When the 'six feet' is used as an adjective, use 'foot':

    They have three six-foot players.

    'I am six foot (tall)' is common and, in my opinion, acceptable. If followed by another figure, for a smaller unit, the singular form is very common in imperial measures..

    She is five foot seven.
    He weighs thirteen stone six.
