    ummmm

    he had eaten like mad. that`s why he dropped the soup

    what is the mistake isn`t it arranging sentences so we use the first event in past perfect and the other sentence in the past simple ????!!!

    Please give your threads meaningful titles. A better title for this one would have been He had eaten like mad.

    He had eaten like mad. That`s why he dropped the soup.
    I have corrected the mistakes in red.
    A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (in this case).

    ricolding, with respect, if you want help, then please use your best efforts when posting your questions. Use the capitalization and punctuation necessary to form correct sentences. That tells us you're serious about learning.

    Please use full sentences to ask your questions. As it is, I'm not sure what you're asking.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    There's nothing wrong with using the past perfect for the first of two events. I don't like the word dropped here.
