    located - sited - laid

The entire control system is about 5 mm square and is.............. inside the shoe.

I could write: located - sited or laid. But my question is: don't they mean the same thing? I think they all fit well...
    What's your thought about it?

I think "control system" here is somewhat like a micro-chip, a micro-processor ... I am learning IT so I know it, our computers have also control systems called CPUs (Central Processing Units). I don't care if it is whether grammatically correct or not but it is easy to understand to IT learners and ,I think, it is used popularly in IT forums.
    Thank you!

It was an answer from somebody who gave up a little of their own free time in an attempt to be helpful. Even if the answer wasn't exactly what you wanted, your response does not encourage others to make an effort.

Well, what do you think about the original question?

Re: located - sited - laid

***Neither a teacher nor a native speaker.***

I think he's talking about some kind of "motion control system".
In my opinion you should use located.
(At least it sounds best to me.)

Laid: You could say, "I laid the bullet inside the shoe."
Sited: Well, I've never read or used that word, so I can't confirm that.
Located: "Where is the motion control system located? It's located inside the shoe."

However, let's wait until some teachers say their opinions, though.

    Cheers!
