    DC / pits

    Dear all,

Waht the meaning of the acronym DC and the word "pits" in the following convo:

"A: I heard that Tony left for DC. How are you doing with that?
B: Uh...Iím really excited for him. Itís a great opportunity.
A: (seeing through it) Yeah, itís the pits.
    B: The worst."

I found that DC is "colombia" but I'm not pretty sure if it fits the context or if there are other options.

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: DC / pits

DC is the District of Columbia, the seat of the United States Federal government. Washington, DC is the city.

The District is not in any of the 50 US states, it exists as a creation of Congress under the Constitution. It was originally created from parts of Virginia and Maryland, however the Virginia parts were eventually returned to Virginia.

Washington, D.C. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The "pits" is explained in the dialogue. It is the worst, a bad or depressing place or state to be.

DC is "washington" then. Thanks for the link and the explanation.
