Which sentence is correct?

Sentence1:
One of my main duties was to produce a range of reports, including cost report, sales report, ....... .
Sentence2:
One of my main duties was the production of a range of reports, including cost report, sales report, ....... .

Usually, we think sentence is better.

Native speakers might say either. Some prefer to use a verb (to produce) in such cases, feeling that the noun (production) is too stodgy, but I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. Say/write whichever one you prefer.
