What is the difference between 'suburb' and 'suburbs'?

I can find both of them in a English-Korean dictionary and the meaning of them is similar.

    Re: suburb/suburbs

If I say that I live in a suburb of Prague, I am thinking of one particular place; if I say that I live in the suburbs of Prague, I am saying that I live some way from the centre of town.
