    I need your help!!

    'Did you see the man that just left?'

    In this sentence, can 'that' be omitted from the sentence or not?
    would you please explain?

    You'll probably hear it without "that", but it could be ambiguous and it doesn't look good written.

    It cannot. When that (or who/which) is the subject of the defining relative clause, we cannot omit it. When it is the direct object or goes wiith a preposition at the end of its clause, we can.

    Did you see the man who/that just left? He just left.
    Did you see the man (who[m]/that) I just left? I left him.
    There is the man (who[m]/that) I was talking to.
    There is the man to whom I was talking.

    ps. I posted this before I saw bhai's post. I'd go one step further than he, and say, "Do not write or say it".
