This is the kind of question that makes me feel very sorry for learners of English. Without looking at the four choices, my immediate response (and that of my flatmate) was: "would be".

However, that is not one of your choices! In which case, 4 is the only acceptable option but it would not have been my first choice.

    If you mean "be", no.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as unacceptable but I would certainly say that the "obvious" answer isn't there.

Please see my amendments to your post above - you need to concentrate on your punctuation. We don't put a space before a comma. We don't put a space between a quotation mark and the first/last letters of the quote. We don't put a space before a question mark.

Use a space after a comma, after a question mark, after a full stop.

I agree with emsr2d2. I think that the test question is unacceptable.

If you are asking about the answers:

She promised that she ..............home tomorrow .
    1) be NO
    2) would have been It is possiible in a very unlikely context
    3) will have been
It is possiible in a very unlikely context
    4) will be Possible.

Please don't ask what the very unlikely contexts are. They are most unhelpful for most learners. In fact, it would be better to take (2) and (3) as not possible, in my opinion.

ps I had not read post#6 when I wrote this.

I agree with you that the test is unacceptable. I don't agree with emsr2d2, who would not go as far as saying that.
