I've taken everything away. - Active voice
Everything's been taken away. - Passive voice
I got taken for half of everything - ????????????
Quite, emsr 2D2.
'Get' is a commonly used alternative to 'be' in passive sentences, especially in informal conversation: "Our team got beaten last week".
Many regard this as sub-standard.
Thanks, I see that:
She took me for half of everything I owned = active.
I was taken for half of everything I owned = passive.
But, is there a voice in:
I got taken for half of everything
So, the answer is "passive" and so, the passive is after all not facing exctinction, as it appears, at least amongst some. Is it just undergoing a metamorphosis?
