    Hello,

    Would you please tell me if there are specific rules to use "not" at the beginning of the sentence? When can we use it?
    I can only think of these two sentences:

    Not everyone understands me

    Not all parents know about their children's life.

    So, I can see that "not" is not used before a noun : Not Mary has a headache*

    nor before a verb: Not am I tall but I am thin as well*

    nor before a pronoun: Not I would go there*
